Google Caffeine

21st June, 2010

As you may know Google’s new system for indexing and delivering fresh content online, Caffeine, went live on 6th June 2010, “Caffeine provides 50% fresher results for web searches than our last index, and it’s the largest collection of web content we’ve offered. Whether it’s a news story, a blog or a forum post, you can now find links to relevant content much sooner after it is published than was possible ever before” said Carrie Grimes, Software Engineer at Google

For websites who continually adding/updating exciting content, this is fabulous news. and for those website owners who are not updating their content on a regular basis, It means that over time, they just might find their site getting replaced in the SERPs by those websites that do have steady stream of content publishing.

Here is some help getting fresh content to your website regularly

  1. Write and submit legitimate press releases.
  2. Set up a Facebook page and link to it from the home page of your website. Invite your visitors to “Like” your page and add content on a regular basis.
  3. Set up a Twitter account and start tweeting!
  4. Grab a Flip HD camera, or any video camera of choice, start shooting video about your products or services and load them up on your YouTube account.
  5. Post pictures about your company on Flickr. You can add pictures of your employees, parties, corporate offices, products, or anything related to your company or industry.
  6. Paid Copywriters. If you are interested in having unique high-quality articles written for your website, this is the best way to go. The only drawback is cost. You can expect to pay up to a few hundred dollars per article, or more, depending on the length.
  7. Article Databases. If cost is an issue, you can opt for free articles from an article database. The drawback to using these articles is that you will need to include an attribution link to both the article database and the author’s website. Some websites even require that you include the author’s bio. Even worse, these articles are not unique content as anyone can publish it on a website.
  8. Guest Writers. You can also use a guest writer. These are generally other bloggers that you’ve developed a relationship with. To liven things up, you also can take turns publishing content on each other’s websites.
  9. Syndication Feeds. A lot of websites serve RSS feeds that publishers can integrate into their websites. One advantage to using these feeds is that you can use them to automatically publish new content to your website. However, as with using content from article databases, this will not be unique content.
  10. User Generated Content. If your website is popular, you can use the visitors as a source for content. Consider having discussion forums, open comments, and polls
